Calamitas Clone is a Hardmode boss that is usually fought at the same tier as Plantera, after all Mechanical Bosses have been defeated. Calamitas Clone can be spawned by using an Eye of Desolation on the Surface at night.

This guide will follow the mod's intended progression.

Terrain Preparation

It is recommended to have a lot of room, as the fight will require the player to move a lot. Two to three long sets of platforms spaced out roughly 25-35 blocks apart. Having platforms above the ground will help as it will prevent you from running into Catastrophe's bouncing fireballs later in the fight. In the case that you end up needing to go near the ground, the ground of the arena should be leveled to prevent crevices and holes obstructing your movement.

Strong vertical mobility is a great asset for this fight as well as good horizontal mobility. As such, it would not be a bad idea to invest in some Weightless Candles. Additionally, placing Campfires and Heart Lanterns can help with recovery from hits.

Gearing Up

Armor

  • Chlorophyte armor is an excellent choice, as the Leaf Crystal provides constant damage and healing in a large area, which is especially useful for taking care of the Soul Seekers.
  • Hallowed armor is a good choice for Melee, Ranged and Mages due to its high survivability.
  • Daedalus armor is a good well-rounded armor set for all classes.
    • Spider armor is a better option for Summoners, should they prefer a more offensive approach, due to its extra minion slots.
    • Rogue players may use Titan Heart armor instead, having more defense, damage and immunity to knockback but lacking the other bonuses from Daedalus Armor.
  • Adamantite armor remains an excellent choice for melee players, providing good defense and great offensive buffs.
    • Melee players can also use Turtle armor if more survivability is desired.
  • Mythril armor is still a viable option that provides high offensive boosts at the cost of lower survivability.

Accessories

Movement

  • Wings are generally preferred over the Bundle of Balloons or the MOAB in this fight, as the smoother movement and the higher amount of control will prove valuable when dodging Calamitas Clone's general attacks or the bullet hells.
    • Bee Wings, Angel Wings and Fairy Wings are all great options due to their defensive bonuses.
    • Bat Wings do especially well in this fight, as their damage bonuses will always be active at nighttime.
    • Mage players can use Butterfly Wings due to their multiple magic bonuses.
    • Harpy Wings are also solid choices due to their excellent mobility bonuses when paired with the Harpy Ring.
    • Note that the Bundle of Balloons or the MOAB can be used to great effect during the brothers phase of the fight, as the high speed of the jumps greatly helps in evading their dashes and Cataclysmic Construct's flamethrower, especially on higher difficulties.
  • A Frog Leg, Aero Stone, Harpy Ring or Grand Gelatin can be utilized with wings to give an extra boost to movement speed.
  • Angel Treads can help with keeping up with Calamitas Clone's speed.
  • Dash-providing accessories such as the Evasion Scarf, Shield of Cthulhu, and the Ornate Shield can be used to make quick dashes to escape deadly situations.

Defensive

  • Permafrost's Concoction is a good option because of its added life regen and revival ability. Additionally, it provides offensive bonuses to mages.
  • The Abaddon can be used, as it provides resistance to Brimstone Flames. It also provides some offensive benefits.
  • The Charm of Myths can be used for its decreased potion cooldown.

Offensive

Weapons

Melee

  • The Sulphurous Grabber is an extremely strong yoyo that proves to be melee's best option for the fight. It should be paired with the Yoyo Bag for the best results.
  • The Pwnagehammer is a strong option that deals excellent damage, though it suffers against the Soul Seekers.
  • The Biome Blade, with its many attunements, is a great and extremely versatile option for the entirety of the fight.
  • The Celestial Claymore is great at dealing damage to the brothers when they are dashing.
  • The Brimlance is a strong yet short-ranged option.
  • The Bonebreaker is a decent option but struggles with seekers.

Ranged

Mage

  • The Cryophobia is a stellar option for all stages of the fight, dealing great damage to the Calamitas Clone herself as well as quickly dispatching the brothers and Soul Seekers.
  • The Valkyrie Ray is an excellent option all throughout the fight.
  • The SHPC proves excellent throughout the entire fight, the energy balls decimate seekers, and the laser barrage deals very good damage.
  • The Slithering Eels is a very powerful weapon that follows your cursor, making it relatively easy to use.
  • The Ion Blaster is a very powerful choice throughout the whole fight due to its high fire rate and damage but be aware its damage will decrease as your mana decreases.
  • The Relic of Ruin is a good weapon for dealing with the brothers, although it can be hard to use at long range.
  • The Rainbow Rod makes aiming trivial and does great damage.
  • The Golden Shower is a good support weapon to decrease Calamitas Clone's defense.
  • The Glorious End can be used similarly to a support tool for dodging attacks and gaining immunity frames.

Summoner

Rogue

  • The Spear of Destiny is an extremely powerful homing option that can deal massive damage throughout the entire fight.
  • Cobalt Kunai are very powerful due to their homing stealth strike that deals good damage.
  • The Skyfin Bombers are an extremely powerful option, especially when using their stealth strike.
  • The Frequency Manipulator is an effective option for the whole fight and good for dealing with seekers.
  • The Brimblade is effective against Calamitas Clone, especially when the blades stack together.
  • The Terror Talons are a decent option, especially when the player is far enough away from Calamitas Clone or her brothers that the projectiles consistently hit them.
  • The Kelvin Catalyst is a very effective option, especially against seekers.

Classless

The Fight

Calamitas Clone alternates between hovering over the player and firing two accelerating Brimstone Hellfireballs, and leveling with the player and firing 4 acceleration Brimstone Hellblasts. Run horizontally to avoid the Hellfireballs, and fly up to avoid the Hellblasts.

At 70% health, Calamitas Clone will become invulnerable and summon a bullet hell. Focus on the projectiles and do not be afraid to use the Rod of Discord if you are in a tight spot. Using Binoculars will also help with seeing the projectiles.

At 40% health, Calamitas Clone will summon her brothers, Cataclysmic Construct and Catastrophic Construct. Cataclysmic Construct rotates between breathing a brimstone flamethrower and charging at the player, and Catastrophic Construct rotates between firing bouncing brimstone fireballs and charging at the player. Because of the brother's high speed and the long range of Cataclysmic Construct's flamethrower, it is important to stay far away from them. In Revengeance Mode or above, using Adrenaline or Rage to quickly dispatch them is a good idea.

At 35% health, Calamitas Clone will summon five Soul Seekers that rotate around her, periodically firing brimstone darts and summoning Life Seekers. Piercing weapons will make short work of the seekers.

At 10% health, Calamitas Clone will summon a second bullet hell, this time with the addition of Brimstone Fireblasts fired from offscreen which home in on the player and explode into rings of Brimstone Darts. Moving around is especially important, as the darts from the Fireblasts are much harder to dodge if you are close to the explosion.

In Expert Mode

The brothers must be destroyed in order for Calamitas Clone to take damage again. Calamitas Clone and her brothers also attack more aggressively.

In Revengeance Mode

Calamitas Clone and her brothers are generally more aggressive. Calamitas Clone gains a new attack below 75% health, where she charges at the player twice following her fireball and hellblast attacks. This attack cannot be used if the brothers are alive.

In Death Mode

Calamitas Clone attacks even more aggressively and summons 10 Soul Seekers instead of 5 at 35% health. At 35% health and below, all of Calamitas Clone's charges will leave an accelerating trail of Brimstone Hellblasts. Calamitas Clone will also charge at the player nonstop below 10% health, leaving the accelerating Brimstone Hellblasts with each charge. Because she positions herself above the player in the second bullet hell and immediately starts charging after it ends, the player might want to save the Rod of Discord to prevent cheap hits.

General Tips

  • The Rod of Discord is a very useful tool as it allows instantaneous teleporting to avoid the brothers.
