The Defective Sphere is a Hardmode rogue boomerang that is dropped by Deadly Spheres. Defective Spheres can be thrown up to five times. Spheres thrown can become one of four variants, listed below.

Performing a stealth strike with Defective Spheres will cause all 4 sphere types to be thrown at once, regardless of stack limit, while making each sphere deal 65% damage instead of 100%.

Sphere Types
