El Calamity Mod añade recetas a ciertos objetos que en el juego base únicamente se pueden obtener mediante cofres o dejados por enemigos para evitar que el jugador consiga más copias del objeto sin necesidad de buscar cofres por todo el mundo o tenga que matar infinitos enemigos. Alguna recetas se añadieron por comodidad y otras para poder obtener objetos más rápido.
Además, el mod cambia y reemplaza la receta de otros objetos del juego base para hacer que sea más fácil o difícil de conseguir con el objeto de balancear el objeto y modificar el momento en el que se puede obtener.
