Накопление энергии перед смертью

The Ceaseless Void is a post-Moon Lord boss that is typically fought after defeating Providence, the Profaned Goddess. The Ceaseless Void will summon Dark Energies that must be destroyed for it to take damage. In addition to this, the boss only takes 1 damage (2 on a critical strike) when damaged due to its very high damage reduction, making this a rather unique boss fight. The Ceaseless Void is summoned by using the Rune of Kos in the Dungeon at any time of day.

This guide will mention items exclusive to Expert and Revengeance Mode with no special formatting and will follow the intended progression.

Terrain Preparation

Make sure you stay inside the Dungeon, since the Ceaseless Void will enrage if you stray too far outside it.

Clear out a large area in the Dungeon to fight the Ceaseless Void, since you will need room to avoid its lasers and gravitational field. If you are expanding outside the Dungeon or prefer to make your arena somewhere else, Unsafe Dungeon Walls can help you create an artificial Dungeon to either extend or create your arena.

  • Do take note that the Ceaseless Void will adjust its stats based on arena size.

As with any arena, life regeneration stations such as Campfires and Heart Lanterns are a must. For mages, mana regeneration stations such as the Star in a Bottle can also prove useful.

Gearing Up

Armor

Tarragon armor is the preferred choice for all classes. However, the lunar armors are still viable:

  • Solar Flare armor for melee players
  • Vortex armor for rangers
  • Nebula armor for mages
    • If the Storm Weaver has been defeated, Prismatic armor can be a better alternative.
  • Stardust armor for summoners
  • Empyrean armor or Bloodflare armor for rogues

Accessories

  • Tarragon Wings (combined with Angel Treads) or Celestial Tracers are both viable options for flight.
  • The Elysian Aegis or Statis' Ninja Belt allow the player to make sharp turns and are very useful.
    • The Elysian Aegis additionally gives knockback immunity and many defensive boosts.
    • Statis' Ninja Belt additionally provides the chance of a ninja dodge and increased jump acceleration.
  • The Absorber is important for survivability by increasing damage reduction as well as giving increased jump acceleration.
  • The Community is a great all-around accessory that boosts offensive and defensive stats as well as boosting flight time.
  • The Deific Amulet is an excellent option providing additional immunity frames and reduced potion cooldown.
  • Melee players should use the Bloody Worm Scarf for its strong melee boosts as well as increased damage reduction.
  • Ranged players should use the Recon Scope and/or the Deadshot Brooch, which both help in boosting damage output.
    • The Deadshot Brooch additionally gives some ammo conservation.
  • Magic players should use the Sigil of Calamitas for its strong magic boosts.
  • Summoners can boost their minion count and damage with the Star-Tainted Generator and Statis' Curse.
    • Summoners can also use the Profaned Soul Artifact to provide a direct DPS boost through other minions.
  • The Dark Matter Sheath can be a good accessory for rogues, provided they can gain stealth to perform stealth strikes.
    • It also provides several passive rogue bonuses.
  • The Moonstone Crown boosts rogue velocity and allows for additional projectiles during the fight, which can be helpful for rogues.

Weapons

The weapons made from Uelibloom Bars or Bloodstone Cores are typically the best options for the fight, although pre-Providence-tier weapons are also viable. Additionally, if you have defeated the Storm Weaver and/or Signus, Envoy of the Devourer, their drops may also serve useful in this fight.

Melee

  • The Ark of the Elements is a viable choice due to its area of effect, homing projectiles, and parry ability.
  • The Defiled Greatsword is another good option for destroying the Dark Energies but struggles against the boss itself.
  • The Grax is a great weapon in this fight, especially with tank builds, due to the boss's lack of mobility negating the weapon's main weakness.
  • The Holy Collider is an excellent option that deals extreme damage to both the boss and its minions.
  • The Mourningstar deals incredible damage against both the minions and boss itself, but using it is very risky during the boss' vulnerable state.
  • The Lacerator can be used as a yoyo with lifesteal.
  • The Pulse Dragon does high damage over a wide area and can deal with both the Dark Energies and the boss.
  • Although you may want to use a more powerful weapon for the Dark Energies, the Mantis Claws can be used as a true melee option, as their fast speed can be used to deal large chunks of damage at once to Ceaseless Void, and their low damage doesn't matter due to the boss's massive damage reduction.

Ranged

  • The Phantasm combined with Luminite Arrows is especially useful when the boss is vulnerable.
  • The Elemental Eruption is very good for taking out the Dark Energies but is not as good against the boss itself.
  • The Elemental Blaster is very good for attacking the boss quickly when it is vulnerable, but not as great against the Dark Energies.
  • The Spyker's exploding projectiles and shrapnel make it very good for dealing with clumps of Dark Energies.
  • The Starfleet's massive AoE radius is extremely good for dispatching the Dark Energies and can even allow for sometimes skipping phases or killing the boss instantly.
  • The Telluric Glare's piercing and ignorance of i-frames is useful against the Dark Energies.
  • If the Storm Weaver has been defeated, The Storm is very effective against both the Ceaseless Void and its Dark Energies. However, when using this weapon, be sure to clear out enough space at the top of your screen and off-screen so that the arrows can actually reach into the Dungeon.
  • Even though the P90 is a Hardmode weapon, it can still do well when the boss is vulnerable due to its insanely high fire-rate.
  • Despite being a Hardmode weapon, the Aerial Bane is a powerful weapon for dealing with the Dark Energies, especially when the extra projectiles also land hits.

Mage

  • The Nuclear Fury's homing and piercing abilities are very good for both the Dark Energies and the Ceaseless Void itself.
  • The Divine Retribution can deal extreme damage to the boss when it is vulnerable.
  • The Elemental Ray and Viscera allow for crowd control (and healing in the case of the Viscera) and work especially well in smaller arenas where there are more opportunities for bouncing, and therefore piercing (and healing).
    • Creating a smaller arena or an arena with lots of reflecting surfaces will be slightly more difficult than just making a large open space and will also be more difficult to maneuver in to avoid the Ceaseless Void's attacks. As such, this may not be the best weapon to use if you are unsure of how to effectively create such an arena.
  • The Sanguine Flare can chew through multiple Dark Energies at once and do great damage to the Void itself.

Summoner

  • Multi-target minions such as the Elemental Axe or Stardust Dragon Staff will fare much better against the Dark Energies.
    • Single-target minions suffer during this fight due to the large amount of enemies to kill. As such, they are not recommended.
  • The Profaned Soul Artifact is also useful in this fight due to the large span of attacks the Guardians can use.

Rogue

  • The Wave Pounder is an effective Rogue weapon for his dark energy phase, as it can hit all of the orbs at once with its stealth strike attack.
  • The Elemental Disk's splitting ability is extremely useful for taking out the Dark Energies quickly.
  • The Molten Amputator's lava globs and explosions do well against clumps of Dark Energies.
  • The Bloodsoaked Crasher is a very effective Rogue weapon for the vacuum phase, as it does enough damage to end the phase in a few seconds while also healing you for each hit. It's also a decent option for the dark energy phase.

Miscellaneous

  • The Exquisitely Stuffed buff provides useful all-around stat boosts.
  • Gravity Normalizer Potions may also be used to help recover after being hit by a Dark Energy, as they negate the distortion effect.
  • The Glorious End can make the final invulnerable attack phase significantly easier to handle, as the gravitational pull has no effect when riding the star and the player will likely have enough defense to negate the self-damage at this point in the game.

The Fight

The Ceaseless Void boss fight consists of the same cycle of attacks, which changes slightly as the Void's health goes down.

The boss will spawn a laser portal at a starting rate of every 15 / 10 Режим Эксперта seconds, which homes in on the player and fires 8 homing lasers every 3 seconds before dispersing 10 seconds after its initial summon. The lower its health, the more frequently a laser portal is spawned. In Expert Mode, the portal's spawn rate increases by 50%. In Revengeance Mode, the portals will also spawn 4 invincible Dark Energy projectiles that orbit around a fixed point for 10 seconds and deal contact damage. When the Ceaseless Void is under 50% health or enraged, this number increases to 12. In Death Mode, this number is always 12.

Dark Energies become immune to knockback when below 50% / 70% Режим Месть / 90% Режим Смерть health in Normal, Revengeance and Death Mode respectively. That being said, the Dark Energies have quite high knockback immunity even when they are vulnerable to it, meaning it does not make much of a difference. Additionally, with each increase in difficulty, the Dark Energies become more aggressive, and in Revengeance Mode the swarms are also larger.

Beginning

The Ceaseless Void will begin in an invulnerable state, summoning 6 Dark Energies to attack you, while dealing contact damage and creating laser portals. Once the Dark Energies are destroyed, the boss becomes vulnerable to damage. In this stage, it is advisable to use any AoE weapons to take out the Dark Energies quickly to get make the boss vulnerable, and using your dash accessory to avoid the lasers and Dark Energies will also help.

90% Health

The Ceaseless Void will begin to suck you closer to it via a gravitational field, which is designated by a purple ring around the boss. This gravitational field will get bigger as the boss loses health. In order to avoid this, circling with a wide berth around the Ceaseless Void is advised, as the gravitational fields will cause you to take a fair amount of contact damage if you are not careful.

70%/40%/10% Health

The Ceaseless Void will once again become invulnerable and summon 24 Dark Energies to attack you, still dealing contact damage and creating laser portals. Once the Dark Energies are destroyed, the boss once again becomes vulnerable to damage. At this point, just rinse and repeat from the beginning stage to defeat the Ceaseless Void.
