The Void Edge is a post-Moon Lord broadsword that is dropped by Eidolon Wyrms after Polterghast is defeated, as well as from the Primordial Wyrm. The Void Edge's projectiles inflict Crush Depth. When swinging the blade, 2-3 Phantom Spirits will be released and seek out nearby enemies. If there are no enemies nearby, they will hover around the player until an enemy gets in range.

Its best modifier is Legendary.

The Phantom Spirits released by the Soul Edge homing in on the player, and then on a Super Dummy.

History

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 2.0.4.001:
    • Renamed from "Soul Edge" to "Void Edge".
    • Nerfed use time from 23 to 24 and shot speed from 12 to 10, but buffed knockback from 5.5 to 7.
    • Now shoots 3 soul projectiles per swing instead of 2-3.
    • Small and medium soul projectiles now have 20% and 10% less knockback respectively. All soul projectiles now last twice as long and home in faster, but explosion on hit now deals 33% base damage.
    • Projectiles now home towards the closest enemy instead of the earliest enemy in the NPC array.
    • No longer inflicts Crush Depth, but true melee hits now summon additional souls from below.
    • Improved the dust visuals of the sword and its projectiles, they now additionally use spark particles, and changed the sound created on projectile death.
    • Increased sell price from 26 Gold Coin to 35 Gold Coin.
  • 1.5.1.001: Now inflicts Crush Depth for 1, 2, 3, and 5 seconds from small soul, medium soul, large soul, and direct hits respectively instead of 10.
  • 1.5.0.001:
    • Nerfed damage from 368 to 174.
    • Soul projectiles now deal 100% base damage instead of 75%.
  • 1.4.2.107: Projectiles are now briefly invisible upon spawning.
  • 1.4.2.105:
    • Phantom spirit explosions now pierce infinitely and grant 10 local immunity frames.
    • Improved the homing of homing souls, and increased the size of their explosions.
  • 1.4.1.001:
    • Buffed damage from 265 to 365.
    • Fixed souls not following the player correctly.
  • 1.3.1.001:
    • Nerfed damage from 570 to 250.
    • Reduced the dust created by soul projectiles.
