The Hive Mind125% / 33.33% Expert Mode

The Shadethrower is a craftable Pre-Hardmode flamethrower that is also dropped by The Hive Mind. When used, it fires shade clouds that pierce twice but have limited range and inflict the Brain Rot debuff.

Its best modifier is Unreal.

  • Unlike most flamethrowers, this weapon works underwater, as it fires shade clouds as opposed to fire.

Trivia

  • This weapon's name is a pun on the slang term "throwing shade," which is to publicly but subtly insult or criticize someone.

History

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 2.0.4.003: Nerfed damage from 23 to 22, but flames now grant 10 ID-static immunity frames instead of 15.
  • 2.0.4.001:
    • Buffed damage from 21 to 23.
    • Flames now pierce twice instead of infinitely, grant 15 ID-static immunity frames instead of 10, and inflict Brain Rot for 4 seconds instead of 5.
    • Fixed its backpack sprite sometimes drawing with an incorrect offset.
  • 2.0.3.007:
    • Nerfed use animation from 10 to 30, but flames now grant 10 ID-static immunity frames.
    • No longer has a 66% chance to not consume ammo.
    • Improved its flame visuals.
  • 2.0.3.005: Nerfed damage from 24 to 21, but it now inflicts Brain Rot for 5 seconds.
  • 2.0.3.001: Now uses 4 Demonite Bars, 12 Rotten Matter, and 4 Rotten Chunks in its recipe instead of 7, 10, and 3.
  • 2.0.2.001: Moved Rotten Chunk to the bottom of the recipe.
  • 1.4.3.001:
    • Now has a tank behind the player.
    • Resprited.
  • 1.4.2.104: Increased chance to not consume Gel from 33% to 66%.
  • 1.1.7: Fixed a hold offset issue.
