Activate

Monoliths are furniture items that activate backgrounds and other screen effects normally seen during certain bosses, biomes, or events. When placed, they can be toggled with the Right Click button or via wire, like other mechanisms, providing their effects in a small area around them. They can also be equipped as vanity accessories, which enables their effect globally for the player.

There are 10 different monoliths: the Astral Projector, Blue Distorted Monolith, Draconic Incense, Exo Obelisk, Monolith of the Accursed, Plague Humidifier, and Purple Distorted Monolith can be crafted, the Boss Rush Monolith can be obtained via Shimmer, the Deep Sea Anchor drops from Leviathan and Anahita with a 6.67% chance, and the Frigid Monolith is sold by the Archmage for 5 Platinum Coin.

  • The Astral Projector mimics effects that normally surround the Astral Infection biome.
  • The Blue and Purple Distorted Monoliths mimic the screen effects of The Devourer of Gods boss fight.
  • The Boss Rush Monolith mimics the effects seen during the Boss Rush event.
  • The Deep Sea Anchor mimics the screen effects of the Leviathan boss fight.
  • The Draconic Incense mimics the screen effects of the Yharon, Dragon of Rebirth boss fight.
  • The Exo Obelisk mimics the screen effects of the Exo Mechs boss fight.
  • The Frigid Monolith mimics the screen effects of the Cryogen boss fight.
  • The Monolith of the Accursed mimics the screen effects of the Supreme Witch, Calamitas boss fight as well as the "Calamity Style" title screen.
  • The Plague Humidifier mimics the screen effects of The Plaguebringer Goliath boss fight.

Unlike the other monoliths, the Monolith of the Accursed has three states: One off state and two on states – one with a simple red tint and cinders appearing from below, and the other with the title screen in addition to the cinders.
