The Old Duke125% / 33.33% Expert Mode

The Insidious Impaler is a post-Moon Lord melee weapon that is dropped by The Old Duke. When used, it throws out a harpoon that sticks to enemies and tiles and can travel in the air for 0.5 seconds before falling to the ground. Upon contact with enemies, it damages them up to 8 times before exploding, releasing green or purple particles. The harpoons inflict the Acid Venom and Sulphuric Poisoning debuffs.

Its best modifier is Godly. It cannot get modifiers that affect size. Ruthless might be preferred if the player already has 100% critical strike chance.

History

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 2.0.4.001:
    • Nerfed damage from 320 to 198 and use time from 15 to 20, but buffed shot speed from 5 to 15. It now uses the melee no speed damage type instead of melee.
    • No longer a spear that fires harpoons when thrusted, and instead directly throws its harpoons.
    • Harpoons now have 1 extra update instead of 2, and fall after traveling for 0.5 seconds.
    • Increased sell price from 26 Gold Coin to 35 Gold Coin.
  • 2.0.3.007: Fixed it lingering for extra animation cycles when switching to another spear while in use.
  • 1.5.1.001: Now inflicts Venom and Sulphuric Poisoning for 3 seconds instead of 6.
  • 1.5.0.001:
    • Nerfed damage from 350 to 210.
    • Projectile now grants 5 local immunity frames instead of 7.5.
