Not to be confused with Cnidrion, an enemy that spawns in the Desert.
The Cnidarian attacking a Target Dummy and a Super Dummy, displaying the jellyfish's string physics and its ability to fire lightning, as well as minion targeting.

The Cnidarian is a craftable Pre-Hardmode summon weapon. When used, the user holds out a fishing rod and a jellyfish on a string attaches to the bottom of the user's cursor. Moving the cursor causes the string to swing proportional to the rate of its movement, with the cursor as the pivot point. While enemies are nearby, it will select up to three enemies at random and fire electric sparks which deals 50% of the jellyfish's damage. If the jellyfish swings fast enough, it will assign minions to target the struck enemy and play a wet slap sound.

Its best modifier is Godly. It cannot get modifiers that affect size.

History

  • 2.0.1.001: Nerfed damage from 11 to 8 and spark damage from 75% base damage to 50%, however, its range is now affected by Whip range modifiers.
  • 2.0.0.001:
    • Reworked:
      • No longer functions as a yoyo and instead causes the player to hold out a fishing rod. While deployed, an electric jellyfish hook, attached to a string, will follow the mouse cursor.
      • If an enemy is damaged by the hook, it causes active minions to target that enemy. Only one enemy can be targeted at a time.
      • Additionally, sparks will periodically fire from the jellyfish hook when swung.
      • It now does summon damage instead of melee damage.
    • Resprited it and projectile.
  • 1.5.0.001:
    • Nerfed damage from 18 to 11.
    • Yoyo projectile now grants enemies 20 local immunity frames instead of using standard immunity frames.
  • 1.4.5.006: Added the line "A very agile yoyo" to its tooltip.
  • 1.4.5.004:
    • Buffed damage from 13 to 18, yoyo range from 11.875 tiles to 15, seashell projectile damage from 50% base damage to 75%, and nerfed air time from 7 seconds to 3.5.
    • The yoyo now moves and fires twice as fast.
  • 1.4.3.002: Shells now deal 50% base damage instead of 33%.
  • 1.4.3.001:
    • Nerfed range from 14 tiles to 11.875.
    • The yoyo no longer retracts after 6 hits.
  • 1.3.1.001: Now caps melee speed at 125% when held.
