The Ballistic Poison Bomb in use.

The Ballistic Poison Bomb is a craftable Hardmode bomb. When used, it throws bombs that are affected by gravity. Upon contact with an enemy, it explodes and launches several fragments that fly in random directions, while also creating 3-5 poison clouds. Collision with a tile will cause the bomb to stick onto the tile for a short period of time, after which, it launches the fragments. The shrapnel will stick to all tiles and enemies and will explode after a short delay. The poison clouds deal 75% of the bomb's damage and the shrapnel deals 100% of the bomb's damage. The bombs, spikes, and clouds inflict the Acid Venom debuff.

Performing a stealth strike with the Ballistic Poison Bomb will cause the bomb to explode into 8-12 poison clouds that inflict Acid Venom for a longer duration.

Its best modifier is Flawless.

  • The poison clouds deal typeless damage rather than rogue damage. However, boosting the weapon's damage will still increase the damage of the poison clouds.
  • Unlike its predecessor, it only explodes on impact when hitting an enemy. When impacting a tile, it behaves similarly to a Sticky Bomb.

History

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 2.0.4.001:
    • Normal throws now spawn 3-5 clouds instead of 8-12. Stealth strikes no longer throw 3 bombs at once, but still spawn 8-12 clouds, and make clouds inflict Acid Venom for 4 seconds instead of 2.
    • Clouds now deal 75% base damage instead of 50%, but are now only exempt from pierce resist on Leviathan and Astrum Aureus.
  • 2.0.3.003: Clouds are now exempt from the pierce resist system.
  • 2.0.2.001:
    • Buffed damage from 50 to 72, spike damage from 50% base damage to 100%, and cloud damage from 25% base damage to 50%.
    • Clouds now grant 20 ID-static immunity frames instead of 10 local immunity frames.
    • Spikes now grant 10 effective local immunity frames instead of setting global immunity frames to 1.
    • Stealth strikes no longer have a 50% damage modifier.
    • Now uses 10 Voidstone, 20 Depth Cells, and 10 Sulphurous Sand in its recipe instead of 10 Depth Cells, 20 Sulphurous Sand, and 10 Tenebris.
    • Decreased sell price from 12 Gold Coin to 9 Gold Coin.png 60 Silver Coin.png.
  • 1.5.1.001: Decreased Venom duration from 4 seconds to 3 for the bomb itself, and 2 for spikes and clouds.
  • 1.4.5.001:
    • Nerfed damage from 55 to 50.
    • Resprited.
  • 1.4.3.002:
    • Clouds now deal 30% base damage instead of 50%.
    • Clouds now grant enemies 40 local immunity frames instead of 30.
  • 1.4.3.001:
    • Now has a stealth strike effect.
    • Now uses Seafoam Bomb in its recipe.
    • Bomb and clouds now function in PvP.
  • 1.4.2.105:
    • Slightly increased the size of spike explosions.
