The Animosity is a Hardmode gun that is dropped by Calamitas Clone. When used with its primary fire (left-click), it fires a narrow spread of 6 bullets that inflicts the Brimstone Flames debuff regardless of what ammo type was used. When used with its secondary fire (right-click), it fires a Brimstone Round with 800% damage, 200% velocity, and 1.35x the critical strike chance, at the cost of halving the rate of fire. The round inflicts the Brimstone Flames and Whispering Death debuffs. On collision with enemies or tiles, the round explodes into shortly lingering skull clouds which are purely visual.

Its best modifier is Unreal.

Notes

• In the Get fixed boi seed, the Animosity is renamed to Shotgun Full of Hate. The following changes are also applied:
  • Has a 75% chance per projectile type to fire 3 toxic bubbles, explosive nails, or homing skulls alongside the shotgun bullets.
  • Plays two additional sounds when firing the Brimstone Round.
  • The main particle trail from the Brimstone Round is light purple instead of red.
  • The round has 7x the critical strike chance instead of 1.35x.
  • Killing enemies or players with the round plays another sound and spawns a Bunny in their place.
  • Plays the Credits theme of Enter the Gungeon on any hits using the weapon, which continues to be played uninterrupted as long as shots are landed continuously.
  • The weapon's tooltip is replaced with the following:
    Fires a shotgun blast full of hatred... among other things
    Press Right Click to use a hexing rifle round instead

Tips

• Due to the right click attack having a significant final damage multiplier, the Animosity massively amplifies the effect of high damage bullets such as Venom Bullets or Bubonic Rounds.

Trivia

• This weapon used to be Revengeance Mode-exclusive.
• The word "Animosity" means strong hostility.
• When using its left or right-click attacks, a cosmetic, physics-affected cartridge can be seen being ejected from the gun.
• The left-click and right-click attacks in the "Get fixed boi" seed are based on the Shotgun Full of Hate and Hexagun respectively from Enter the Gungeon.
  • This is also reflected in the tooltip and the Credits theme being played.

    • Buffed damage from 33 to 45 and critical strike chance from 4% to 8%, but nerfed shot speed from 11 to 6.5.
