Weather Radio

The Weather Radio is an informational accessory that displays the current weather and wind speed on the Surface, even if the player is in the Underground, Cavern, or Underworld layers. The Weather Radio can be recieved from the Angler NPC as a 1/34 (2.94%) chance reward for completing a Fishing quest for the Angler NPC, depending on the number of completed quests and other factors (for details, see Angler).

The Angler will not give the player a Weather Radio as a reward if they already have one in their inventory or in any of their portable storage items or loadouts. However, if the player has all of the Angler's fishing and informational accessories (or their upgrades like the Angler Tackle Bag and Fish Finder) in their inventories, this rule will be ignored.

The Weather Radio is one of the three parts necessary to make the Fish Finder, with the others being the Sextant and the Fisherman's Pocket Guide, and as such is a required ingredient in crafting the Shellphone.

Notes

• Unlike most accessories, informational accessories such as the Weather Radio do not need to be equipped in an accessory slot. The Weather Radio may be carried in the player's inventory without loss of functionality, unless equipped to a social slot. Additionally, the info it provides will be shared with players of the same team in multiplayer that are within 50 tiles. Keep in mind modifiers will no longer apply to the player when not equipped.
• If a Sandstorm is occurring within the world, the Weather Radio's information will alternate between displaying the current weather and wind speed and a "Sandstorm" alert message.
• The Fisherman's Pocket Guide, Weather Radio, and Sextant are interchangeable with Shimmer.
• If an event is happening, the Weather Radio will still display the weather.
• The Weather Radio will not display the Slime Rain event.
