The Slime God is a Pre-Hardmode boss that can be fought anywhere. The boss is comprised of three main parts, the Crimulan Slime God, the Ebonian Slime God, and the Core itself. All three will spawn upon the use of the Overloaded Sludge, regardless of whether the world generated contains Corruption or Crimson.

Spawn

The Slime God does not spawn on its own and requires the player to summon it with the Overloaded Sludge.

Behavior

The Slime God encounter is made up of three individual bosses: Crimulan Slime God, The Ebonian Slime God, and The Slime God itself. Each has its own unique behaviors and attacks. The Slime God Core is invincible, and the boss is defeated when both the Crimulan and Ebonian Slime Gods are defeated.

Crimulan and Ebonian Slime Gods

  • Will jump toward the player similarly to other slimes.
  • Occasionally flies over the player and attempts to drop down directly on top of them.
  • Teleports near the player when they are at least 337.5 tiles away.
  • Quickly boost themselves towards the player when they are at least 150 tiles away.
  • Fire Unstable Crimulan Glob.png Unstable Ebonian GlobUnstable Globs at the player when they are at least 10 tiles away.
    • Crimulan Slime God fires two globs and has a shooting cooldown of 7.5 / 5 Expert Mode seconds. If the Ebonian Slime God is defeated, this reduces to 5 / 4 Expert Mode seconds.
    • Ebonian Slime God fires four globs and has a shooting cooldown of 10 / 6.67 Expert Mode seconds. If the Crimulan Slime God is defeated, this reduces to 3.75 / 3 Expert Mode seconds.
  • Spawn smaller slimes as it takes damage.
    • Crimulan Slime God spawns a Crimson Slime SpawnCrimson Slime Spawn every 15% of its health lost. There is a 33.33% chance for the slime to be Crimson Slime Spawn (spiked)spiked.
    • Ebonian Slime God spawns 1-2 Corrupt Slime SpawnCorrupt Slime Spawns every 20% of its health lost.
  • Defeating one slime will buff the other.
    • If the Crimulan Slime God is defeated, Ebonian Slime God will double its movement-based attack rates.
    • If the Ebonian Slime God is defeated, Crimulan Slime God will double its defense.

The Slime God (Core)

  • Constantly accelerates towards the player, inflicting the Slow Debuff on hit.
  • Every 15 seconds, it can rush at and enter one of the other Slime Gods, becoming invulnerable for 10 seconds. For the duration, the possessed god will gain certain boosts.
    • All possessed slimes will temporarily gain Death Mode AI.
    • Crimulan Slime God will gain 25 / 50 Expert Mode damage and 24 defense.
    • Ebonian Slime God will gain 22 / 44 Expert Mode damage and 20 defense.
  • Transitions into Phase 2 when one of the Crimulan and Ebonian Slime Gods have been defeated.
    • Continues to accelerate at the player at a faster pace with a higher maximum speed.
    • Will possess the remaining slime god every 5 seconds.
    • Fires Unstable Globs at an increased rate. Expert Mode

In Expert Mode

  • Increases acceleration and speed to all slimes.
  • The Crimulan and Ebonian Slime Gods will split into two smaller slimes once they reach half health. They behave similarly to the non-split gods, with some minor changes.
    • They are unable to teleport near the player when they are too far away.
    • They quickly boost themselves towards the player when they are at least 225 tiles away, instead of 150.
    • Split Crimulan Slime God will gain 44 damage and 20 defense when possessed.
    • Split Crimulan Slime God fires one glob and has a shooting cooldown of 15 Expert Mode / 7.5 Revengeance Mode seconds. If the Ebonian Slime God is defeated, this reduces to 7.5 Expert Mode / 5 Revengeance Mode seconds.
    • Split Ebonian Slime God will gain 40 damage and 16 defense when possessed.
    • Split Ebonian Slime God fires two globs and has a shooting cooldown of 20 Expert Mode / 10 Revengeance Mode seconds. If the Crimulan Slime God is defeated, this reduces to 10 Expert Mode / 6.67 Revengeance Mode seconds.
  • The Slime God Core continuously fires Unstable Crimulan Glob.png Unstable Ebonian GlobUnstable Globs toward the player.

In Revengeance Mode

  • Increases acceleration and speed to all slimes, higher as their health decrease.
  • Crimulan and Ebonian Slime Gods fire Unstable Globs more frequently.
  • The Slime God Core fires Unstable Globs at an increased rate.

In Death Mode

  • Increases acceleration and speed to all slimes, higher as their health decrease.
  • The Slime God Core fires Unstable Globs at an even higher rate.

On the For the worthy seed

  • The Slime God Core is 25% faster.
  • Slimes become smaller at a faster rate.
  • Unstable Globs are twice as fast.

Notes

  • The Slime God component defeated last will be the one to drop the loot.
    • 180 to 250 Gel will always be dropped directly by the final Slime God component regardless of mode.
  • The Crimulan and Ebonian Slime Gods can teleport with players if they use any recall items far from their spawn points.

Tips

For more elaborate strategies on defeating The Slime God, including weapon and arena recommendations, see Guide:The Slime God strategies.
  • Do not run too far away, or otherwise, the Slime Gods will ram the player at very high speed, making it very difficult to dodge them. Try to keep them on the screen to avoid getting hit easily.
  • It is not recommended to fight these bosses until at least Skeletron is defeated, as their high speed and damage can easily overwhelm an unprepared player.
    • Should the player have the skill and patience to defeat this boss, they can obtain powerful loot that will aid them through the rest of pre-Hardmode.

Trivia

  • The Slime God's theme is Return to Slime, which was composed by the artists DM DOKURO and SixteenInMono.
    • This theme contains motifs from The Perforators and The Hive Mind's themes.
    • If the Calamity Music add-on mod is disabled, Boss 1 will play instead.
    • In the theme, a voice shouts some unknown words.
  • Unlike all the other bosses, the Slime God has 2 Masks, one for the Crimulan Slime God and another for the Ebonian Slime God. This is similar to the fact that The Twins and Calamitas have multiple different Trophies.
    • Only one of the two masks can drop at a time.
  • The Slime God can be fought before any boss is defeated, as its summoning item only requires Ebonstone/Crimstone Blocks collected from explosives and Blighted Gel.
  • The Slime God was one of the first bosses added to the Calamity Mod, along with the Desert Scourge and The Devourer of Gods.
    • Prior to the 1.1.6.13 update, The Slime God was a single large slime, instead of two large slimes and a core.
  • If the Boss Checklist Mod is installed, its unique despawn message will be "The gelatinous monstrosity achieved vengeance for its brethren."

BestiaryBestiary entries

  • The Slime God (Core): "Despite being a Gluttonous slime, the Slime God forbids itself from growing out of control to maintain the balance of the world. It was still pursued during the Crusade, but it managed to survive through countless strategic retreats. The duty it upholds and the methods it employs are the reason the Onyx Kinsmen worship such a puny deity."
