The Superradiant Slaughterer in use. Note the shot saws only returning upon hitting or bouncing, as well as being empowered following the right click attack.

The Superradiant Slaughterer is a craftable post-Moon Lord ranged weapon. When held, it charges up a handheld buzzsaw which deals 200% damage on contact. As continuously held, the buzzsaw grows to a medium size after 0.5 seconds and full size after 2 seconds, as well as linearly scaling from 100% to 500% damage and 1 to 6 pierce over 2 seconds. Once released, the saw of the held size is shot out, is able to bounce off tiles, and temporarily slows down each time it strikes an enemy. Each bounce consumes one pierce and the saw lasts 10 seconds before dissipating, or returns to the player 2 seconds after hitting an enemy or tile or after all pierce has exhausted. Upon returning, the saw releases a burst of 2 homing bolts per saw hit, each dealing 50% of the saw's damage.

Right clicking performs a short dash in the direction traveled with a base distance of 43 tiles and fires a large lingering saw towards the cursor which releases bolts every 0.2 seconds and lasts for 4.5 seconds. The lingering saw deals 150% damage and its bots deal 75% damage. This ability has a 6 second cooldown; during the cooldown all shot saws emit a rainbow glow, gradually curve towards the cursor while not returning, and trail bolts while returning every 0.15 seconds which also deal 50% of the saw's damage.

All saws inflict the Laceration debuff, which makes its target lose 200 health per second.

Its best modifier is Unreal.

Notes

  • If all of a buzzsaw's pierce has been consumed, it will only deal 33% base damage.
  • In the Get fixed boi seed, the sound made when saws hit a tile is replaced by the sound of a falling metal pipe.

Trivia

  • The idle sound made while the saw is fully charged is a recording of the buzzsaws found in the White Palace in Hollow Knight.

History

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 2.0.5:
    • Renamed from "Elemental Blaster" to "Superradiant Slaughterer".
    • Reworked:
      • Buffed damage from 67 to 127, critical strike chance from 4% to 25%, and projectile velocity from 18 to 24, but nerfed use time from 2 to 30.
      • No longer rapidly fires homing rainbow blasts.
      • Holding left-click now charges up a buzzsaw which deals 200% base damage to enemies at close range while being charged.
      • Releasing left-click launches the buzzsaw; the buzzsaw bounces off tiles and inflicts Laceration and Elemental Mix on hit.
      • Charging the buzzsaw increases its hitbox size, damage, and pierce, up to 500% base damage and piercing 6 times. After a buzzsaw exhausts its pierce, it will return to the player, spawning a burst of homing bolts when doing so.
      • Right-clicking now causes the player to dash in the direction of the movement keys they are holding, and shoot a lingering buzzsaw to the cursor's position.
      • The dash has a cooldown of 6 seconds; while on cooldown, buzzsaws become empowered, allowing them to loosely home towards the cursor's position and constantly release homing bolts while returning.
    • Now uses Buzzkill in its recipe, and now requires a Hardmode Anvil to craft instead of an Ancient Manipulator.
    • Resprited. Previous sprite was Elemental Blaster (1.2.3.001).png
  • 2.0.4.001:
    • Now considered a specialist weapon.
    • Blasts now home towards the closest enemy instead of the earliest enemy in the NPC array.
    • Increased sell price from 22 Gold Coin to 24 Gold Coin.
  • 2.0.3.007: Now inflicts Elemental Mix for 1 second.
  • 2.0.2.001:
    • No longer inflicts any debuffs.
    • Moved Galactica Singularity below Life Alloy in its recipe.
    • Now uses 5 Life Alloys in its recipe instead of Spectralstorm Cannon and Clock Gatlignum.
  • 1.5.1.001:
    • Now inflicts Brimstone Flames, Frostburn, and Holy Flames for 1.5 seconds instead of 2.
    • No longer inflicts Plague.
  • 1.5.0.001:
    • Nerfed damage from 66 to 50.
    • No longer inflicts Glacial State and now inflicts Frostburn for 2 seconds.
  • 1.4.2.102: Now inflicts Brimstone Flames, Glacial State, Holy Flames, and Plague.
  • 1.2.1.004:
    • Buffed damage from 85 to 95, but nerfed shot speed from 24 to 18.
    • Projectiles now have 1 extra update, effectively doubling their speed.
  • 1.1.7.5: Now requires an Ancient Manipulator to craft instead of a Hardmode Anvil.
