Demonstration of the player jumping higher with the Step Stool.

The Step Stool is an accessory used by holding ▲ Up. A stationary player using a Step Stool appears to be standing on a stool, which increases their jump reach. The Step Stool can be found inside surface Chests, Wooden Crates, and Pearlwood Crates. It can also be purchased for 2 GC50 SC from the Skeleton Merchant during a Waning Crescent.

Notes

  • When in use, the Step Stool increases the player's jump reach to 9.335 tiles (assuming no other jump boosts are in effect), which is an increase of 48.88% compared to the default jump reach of 6.27 tiles. This boost is comprised of a lift by 1.625 tiles[1] and a jump duration increase by 5[2].
  • The Step Stool is part of the player's hitbox. This means that enemy projectiles that hit the Step Stool do deal damage to the player.

Tips

  • By binding the Jump button and ▲ Up button to the same key, the Step Stool allows all jumps to reach this height by default, greatly increasing its usefulness. This only works if the player is not moving.
  • Pairing a Cloud in a Bottle and its variants with the Step Stool can give the player an even higher jump boost.
