Yanmei's Knife is a craftable Hardmode classless weapon. When swung, a short-ranged green slash appears in front of the player towards the mouse cursor. After the swing, the player is temporarily unable to use the weapon for 3 seconds. Striking an enemy grants the player the Kami Injection buff while the hit target is inflicted with the Kami Flu debuff. Kami Injection grants the player 15% movement speed and damage, while Kami Flu reduces the enemy's damage reduction by 20% and depletes 125 health per second. Both effects last for 10 seconds. Players with the Kami Injection buff will have a trail of green afterimages, while targets inflicted with the Kami Flu debuff will emit a green glow.

The Yanmei's Knife cannot be reforged, and therefore cannot have modifiers.

Notes

• Yanmei's Knife does not gain any critical strike chance from accessories, modifiers, and armor bonuses.
• When the knife successfully hits a vulnerable NPC, it will play the same sound as activating Adrenaline Mode.

Tips

• Due to the weapon's low direct damage and the significant stats of the buff and debuff, Yanmei's Knife should not be used as a primary damage-dealer and instead functions better when used periodically, to refresh the buff and debuff.

Trivia

• The weapon is a reference to Automaid, a work-in-progress comic series being illustrated and written by the dedicatee. The knife is the signature weapon of the main character, Yanmei, with the Kami buff and debuffs playing a key role in the comic.
• The tooltip is part of a poem by Piky, one of the beta testers and developers for the mod, written to describe Yanmei:

A voice, a strike of caring humor Sparking dear memories Of sweetened & pure serenity Memories of the Days of Old Yet, profoundly reassuring Her voice calls to the fire Dancing until the break of dawn Of her deeds alone, instilling within her friends A heart of Valor

• 2.0.3.005: On-hit effects now work on all enemies instead of only bosses.

• 1.5.1.001: Introduced sound effects on hit and when the buff expires.

• 1.5.0.001:
  • Specified in Kami Injection's tooltip that it increases acceleration and max movement speed instead of just movement speed.
  • Kami Flu now grants a 30 second global cooldown on bosses before they can be slowed again.

• 1.4.5.003:
  • Kami Injection buff no longer grants bonus defense. Nerfed damage boost from 30% to 15%. Buffed movement speed boost from 10% to 15%. Decreased Kami Flu debuff damage over time from 125 damage per second to 100.
