The Buzzkill is a craftable Hardmode ranged weapon. When held, it charges up a handheld buzzsaw which deals 150% damage on contact. As continuously held, the buzzsaw grows to a medium size after 0.5 seconds and full size after 2 seconds, as well as linearly scaling from 100% to 500% damage and 1 to 5 pierce over 2 seconds. Once released, the saw of the held size is shot out, and is able to bounce off tiles. Each bounce consumes one pierce and the saw lasts 8 seconds before dissipating. All attacks inflict the Heavy Bleeding debuff, which makes its target lose 40 health per second.

Its best modifier is Unreal.

Notes

  • In the Get fixed boi seed, the sound made when saws hit a tile is replaced by the sound of a falling metal pipe.

Trivia

  • The weapon's name and flavor tooltip are references to the weapon of the same name from Enter the Gungeon.
    • The phrase "sawed-on shotgun" is in turn a play on "sawed-off shotgun," a shotgun modified to have a shorter barrel.
    • The pickup quote for the Buzzkill in Enter The Gungeon is "Sawed On!", adding to the reference.
  • The idle sound made while the saw is fully charged is a recording of the buzzsaws found in the White Palace in Hollow Knight.

History

These history sections are still a work-in-progress, and may not yet contain changes relevant to the current version of the Calamity Mod.
  • 2.0.6.1: Fixed it firing multiple saws in multiplayer.
  • 2.0.5:
    • Renamed from "Butcher" to "Buzzkill".
    • Reworked:
      • Buffed damage from 15 to 56, critical strike chance from 4% to 25%, use time from 40 to 30, and projectile velocity from 12 to 20.
      • No longer fires a spread of bullets which fires faster and more accurately the longer it is fired.
      • Holding left-click now charges up a buzzsaw which deals 150% base damage to enemies at close range while being charged.
      • Releasing left-click will fire the buzzsaw, which bounces off tiles and inflicts Heavy Bleeding for 2.5 seconds on hit. Charging the buzzsaw increases its hitbox size, damage, and pierce, up to 500% base damage and piercing 5 times.
    • Now uses 15 Cogs and 10 Souls of Fright in its recipe instead of Shotgun, 5 Any Cobalt Bars, and 4 Essences of Havoc, and now requires a Hardmode Anvil to craft instead of an Anvil.
    • Resprited. Previous sprite was Butcher (weapon) (1.4.5.003).png
  • 2.0.2.002:
    • Now has a 25% chance to not consume ammunition.
    • No longer consumes one additional ammunition when initially used.
  • 1.5.1.001:
    • Now uses the Rarity Level: 4 rarity instead of Rarity Level: 5.
    • Moved Illegal Gun Parts above Any Cobalt Bar in the recipe.
  • 1.5.0.001: Now uses 5 Any Cobalt Bars in its recipe instead of 5 Hallowed Bars.
  • 1.4.5.001:
    • Buffed damage from 17 to 18.
    • Now uses 5 Hallowed Bars in its recipe instead of 4 Essences of Eleum.
  • 1.4.2.105: Now increases accuracy and fire rate 33% more quickly.
  • 1.4.2.102:
    • Increased how quickly it charges up.
    • Projectiles now gain more speed based on how long the weapon is charged.
