The Bezoar is an immunity accessory that grants the player immunity to the Poisoned debuff. It has a 1/100 (1%) / 1/50 (2%) chance to drop from Hornets, Moss Hornets, and Toxic Sludges.

It is one of the ingredients required to make the Medicated Bandage, which is a crafting material required to make the Ankh Charm, an accessory further required to make the Ankh Shield.

Tips

  • It is most easily acquired before Hardmode, when the Underground Jungle is still relatively safe.
  • The Poisoned status effect can be exceptionally deadly early on in higher difficulties, especially Master Mode, where it sometimes lasts over 40 seconds. The Bezoar takes up a valuable accessory slot that the player may not have to spare, though. Instead, the Bezoar can simply be kept in the player's inventory and briefly equipped to remove the status effect. This allows for the removal of the poison without requiring the Bezoar to be worn constantly.

Trivia

  • It is one of the (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) six / (Old-gen console and 3DS versions) four components of the Ankh Shield that can be obtained in pre-Hardmode, the others being the Obsidian Skull, Cobalt Shield, Nazar, (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) Adhesive Bandage, and (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) Megaphone.
    • In pre-hardmode, the Adhesive Bandage and Megaphone items are not obtained via enemy drops, but rather via Shimmer transformation.
  • A bezoar is a lump of mass trapped in the digestive system, historically believed to have antibiotic and poison-curing effects.
  • Despite Venom also being poison, the Bezoar does not prevent the Venom debuff.

History

  • Desktop 1.4.4: Can now be converted into an Adhesive Bandage and back via Shimmer.
